Building The Great Firewall of China was once thought to be an impossible task, but the Chinese government continues to ramp up their surveillance efforts and censor their citizens, even as new technologies are developed to help citizens circumvent current censorship. After banning WhatsApp last year, those government eyes turned more fully onto WeChat. While WeChat isn’t used in the West, it’s China’s most popular social media platform, with a focus on voice and text messaging.
